Bel Pesce is a passionate Brazilian entrepreneur in love with business and technology. Over the past few years, she has tackled a variety of needs ranging from better cell phone coverage in Africa to more effective task management tools. She is now focusing her energies on Lemon (www.lemon.com), a digital wallet that helps you spend smarter.
Bel received degrees from MIT in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics and Sloan School of Management. In addition to having started a number of various projects, Bel has worked at MIT, Microsoft, Google as well as Deutsche Bank. She is also a TED Fellow and a Sandboxer.
Bel is the author of ‘A Menina do Vale’, a book about how entrepreneurship can change your life. The e-book was published in May 2012 and has already been downloaded over a million times in Brazil. The printed version was published in August 2012 and went straight to the top of the bestsellers chart in Brazil.
Vicente Goetten has established a reputation as a successful startup entrepreneur, a published author, engineer, business manager and technology evangelist. In 2012, Goetten helped TOTVS establish TOTVS Labs to leverage the entrepreneurial environment in the Silicon Valley, develop innovative and disruptive technology for enterprises and help customers grow and compete in a global economy.
Goetten’s entrepreneurial roots date back to 2003, when he co-founded Decisao IT in (focused in user collaboration for enterprise) in Brazil that achieved impressive growth. Following that venture, Goetten joined Tech Solutions as a partner, where he played a key role in the company’s growth and acquisition by Datasul S.A. in 2008. He was instrumental in shaping the company’s SaaS strategy, where he also managed Datasul sales force and distribution channels. Since Latin American enterprise software leader TOTVS acquired Datasul at the end of 2008,
Goetten earned a degree in computer science from UTESC in Brazil and an MBA from the Getulio Vargas Foundation. In 2011 he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University, where he developed several studies that explored Cloud Computing, Big Data, Analytics, Open Innovation and Venture Capital.
Ron Piovesan leads business development for Mozilla’s App Marketplace and is responsible for signing distribution deals with major content and games providers. His team has closed over 200 distribution deals including EA, Evernote, Atlantic Records, Boston Globe, eBay, Box among others. He is also leading the content acquisition strategy for the new FirefoxOS phone in Brazil, in partnership with Telefonica.
Prior to Mozilla, he was a marketing director with DataDirect Networks, a $200M information storage company. Piovesan spent over seven years at Cisco, mostly recently on the corporate development team where he led a series of equity investments in Latin America and the Middle East. Piovesan also lectures on marketing and social media strategies at Stanford University. He has a Bachelors of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Canada; a Masters in Media and Communications from Goldsmiths College, UK; and an MBA from the joint program at the Columbia and UC Berkeley Haas GSB.
